For grown-ups reading along

Think Like Trixie is for ages 5 to 10, and we suggest reading it aloud together. Younger children follow the story, and older ones can read the dictionary on their own.

Four things to talk about afterwards:

  • Ask clearly. Trixie froze when Vea asked for "the perfect card." What would you tell an AI so it knows what you mean?
  • Check the answer. The first card got Mom wrong, and Vea caught it. AI can sound sure and still be wrong.
  • Think before you share. Vea told Modelle a family story. Talk about what's OK to tell an AI, and what stays in the family.
  • AI isn't a person. Modelle knew lots of words, but only Vea knew what made Mom laugh.
